Notes from Fr. Jason - November 9th, 2025

Dear Saint Francis Xavier Parishioners,

Three things. Hopefully, you have already noticed the first thing. Saint Francis Xavier now has its own bulletin separate from St. Mary. This is part of the process of delinking the parishes.

The second thing is that we celebrate Veterans Day on Tuesday. As a priest, I am thankful to the men and women who have served our nation in the armed forces. Your service has allowed us the freedoms we enjoy, especially the freedom of religion. Let us make sure to thank the Veterans in your lives.

The third thing is a follow-up from my letter last week on stewardship of sharing. All we have is from God, even our treasure we have worked for. We share some of it back with God for the Kingdom. The primary way to do this is sharing with the local parish. This is an investment in what matters to God.

God asks us to make our sharing both planned and a priority.

We also should make our sharing a percentage of our income. Do we know what percentage of our income we share right now? This decision on a percentage is one that should be done with prayer and thought. In sharing our treasure, we can put Jesus on the spot and ask Him what He wants us to share. I did that for myself about a year and a half ago. Jesus put it on my heart to share more. For me, that prayer brought me to my current sharing rate: 15% for the parish, 1% for the diocese, and 1% for the Catholic Near East Welfare Association. Honesty, this does sting each week. But God has taken care of me. I invite you to trust Jesus with your treasure.

Sincerely through Jesus,

Fr. Jason
